Mark Tyers: Who is Ron Brown and how would you describe your music? 
  
Ron Brown: I'm a singer-song writer and political activist from the north east of England. I am a solo acoustic artist whose music is both politically and personally inspired.

MT: Why are you opposed to the Tory government? 

Ron Brown: I am opposed to the Tory government because they are opposed to all things that represent my interests and the majority of people [in the UK]: Strong trade unions, decent state education for all, a National Health Service that is cared for, decent social security and a tax system that requires the rich to pay their fair share - are just some things that the Tories could never deliver on that would benefit me and millions of others.


MT: What role do you think music and gigs like Music for the Many can play in ending austerity and bringing down Theresa May's government? 


Ron Brown: The People's Assembly has definitely played a role in uniting people against what has been called 'austerity' - a word used to justify and legitimise attacks on the working class. Events like this continue to do that sort of work and point to an alternative.
